Our Graduate

IMG_0341

Mia graduated from Pre-K in style! Like her sister, she wore a blue cap with a tassel.  Unfortunately our view of her included a microphone. But, we managed to see her recite Psalm 100 along with her class and receive her diploma.

Afterward, we had a celebration cake, and we were able to say goodbye to Miss Laura and have a fun picture with her best little friend in the class, Charlotte. She will miss these two girls very much!

Here are some family pictures..Megan actually skipped a part of school so she could support Mia. Max had a field trip, or he would have been there too!

Grandma and Grandpa came too!

Congrats Mia – now off to big school! We love you!

Last Day as a Monkey

IMG_0315

I couldn’t resist posting some pictures of our soon to be ex-preschooler.  Before the ceremony, Mia had her last day of classes as a Monkey.  Miss Laura has been the best teacher for her this year, and we will miss her SO much!  Mia has thrived as a Monkey, made great friends, and as you can tell is pretty happy most of the time – especially if the attention is on her! So here’s a few shots before her last day! Enjoy – she is such a goof sometimes..this was one of those mornings!

KCAP Recital

IMG_0283

Our local FCC group puts on a schooling program for adopted children from China.  KCAP. Don’t ask me what that stands for, we just call it “Chinese”.  This year, Mia took pre-K language and dance.  They held a recital at the end of the year.  All the girls did great!

Starbucks Art Reception

IMG_0792

Megan came home with a permission slip to display her artwork, Koi Fish for Japan at Starbucks here in Powell. Mr. J (pictured below) is her art teacher.  He is friends with the local Starbucks manager and personally chose each piece to be displayed.  I could tell by meeting him at the reception that he loves Megan!

The artwork displayed here is also supposed to go to Japan to the tsunami victims at a school being re-built.  So, now we are the parents of a world artist Smile

Congrats Megan on your work. We are so proud of you!

Playing Catch-Up

Hi everyone. My apologies for not getting the blog up to date. I’m sure you are all anxious to hear our news…or maybe not. But whatever the case, I’m happy to share I’ve finally updated March and some of April.  It has been a busy few months and I’m hoping to keep up from this point on. I know some of you don’t like me backdating…but I do it to keep dates straight in my mind for scrapbooking! So, enjoy!

4 Weeks with Griffin

IMG_0262

So we have had Griffin for almost 4 weeks.  He’s doing great. He’s such a sweet dog, and always wants to be where we are.  Don’t get me wrong, he is ALL puppy ALL the time…but now that he is house trained, things are going a lot better and we can work on obedience.

Griffin is getting the hang of crate training as well. Doesn’t cry anymore when we put him in, and barks a lot less. Megan, Max and I are taking him to puppy classes at Petsmart.  We have really learned a lot. I’ve forgotten all the commands, etc.  It definitely is  a learning experience!

IMG_0793

Griffin’s favorite place is to lay in the sun – no matter where it comes in. He also loves to sleep on the bottom step…that was until we had to take the bottom step away for a baby gate! He learned fast how to climb stairs, so knowing the shape of my  kids rooms…it is just better to block it off!

Griffin is getting big already – 25 lbs at 16 weeks.  He’s going to be a BIG dog!

No Longer a cub…but now a BOY SCOUT!

IMG_0832

Max worked hard this year to earn his Arrow of Light, and become a Boy Scout.  No longer is he a Webelo, but a full blown Boy Scout!  We attended the graduation ceremony.

Here he is leading a part of the ceremony with his leader Mr. Franz.

Congrats Max, great job! Looking forward to many more scout activities!

Muffins with Mom–Monkey Style

IMG_0781

Right before Mother’s day, Mia’s class held a Muffins with Mom get together.  I have to say I was a little sad, given that this was my last one. 10 plus years of preschool, and I enjoyed each and every one.  This one was so special because Mia is my baby, and she’s going off to kindergarten in the fall.

She greeted me with a hat made just for me!

And of course we had to sit with her friend Charlotte! These two are inseparable!

Thank you Mia for making my last Muffins with Mom so special, and especially for letting me be your mom. I am so blessed to have you!
